While working on this portrait, I wanted to focus on pushing details and colors. I wanted to make this work as vivid as possible and use a wide palette of colors to enhance the expressiveness and the feeling of having a lot of detail in the work. I was interested in concentrating on the hair, which is something I have always had difficulty with when painting portraits. I think in the course of this work I was able to develop my understanding of the structure and shape of human hair and the behavior of light, color and shadow in such a complex structure.
